Wha-Where am I...?

Oh no! You have amnesia, and right as you're about to get to the hottest party in town! With so many people around, it'd be super embarrassing to get everyone's name wrong wouldn't it? You'd never live it down! But never fear...

amnesi.app is here!

All of your friends right there on your phone. And their friends, and their friends; it's your entire friend network at your fingertips! Investigate your friends' pages to work out who exactly you're talking to. Too many party fouls and you're outta the party!

How do I play this dang game?

A handy tutorial will run when you play the game! Otherwise, here is how you get yourself out of this jam:

1. Click through the Tutorial (you can enable and disable this in the Main Menu).
2. Wait for a partygoer to talk to you! Read what they've revealed about themselves in the Chat Window.
3. Look at the Friends and Posts on your amnesi.app page for hints about who they are! For example, if someone talks about work while greeting you'll find them under work friends, or if they say you met just yesterday check in your New Friends.  
4. Click on a Friend's Name on amnesi.app to visit their page.
5. To narrow it down, take a peek at a person's Posts and Bio! They might be talking about their interests!
6. If you think you know who is speaking to you, Click the Verify icon on their page (grey diamond).
7. If you were right, congratulations, another friend will be on their way swiftly! If not... oops! You'd better not get 3 people wrong, that would be so embarrassing...

Still confused? Maybe a talk through will help:

If they say "Hey there sibling. have you heard about Winemaking, it's the worst", you know they will be one of your family friends. You can then check each of their pages for a post about disliking Wine Making. 

If a new person X comes up to you and says "Steve's relative huh. I've known Steve for ages.  I really love Table Tennis". You will already know who Steve is and you'll be able to find them under family friends ("as per the sibling"), they will be one of Steve's unknown Old friends ("I've known Steve for ages"). You can then figure out who they are by looking for the someone why posts about liking Table Tennis.

People will approach you at the party and strike up a conversation with you. They will give you a little bit of information about themselves. Using the amnesi.app, investigate your friends' pages to find out who you're talking to. Simply click on a name in your friends list to go to their profile. From here you can see their most recent posts, their bio, as well as links to their friends profile. When you're confident you know who the person is, click the verified box next to their profile name. If you're wrong, you get a party foul! 3 fouls and you're out of the party! Try to remember everyone's name at the party to be the coolest kid in town.

amnesi.app was made for the GMTK Game Jam 2021 for the theme "Joined Together" We used the idea of exploring a network of friends to figure out who they are based on their recent posts and relationships. We hope you have fun playing!
